JEWEL OF KZN MIDLANDS ON THE MARKET

PRESS RELEASE
9 September 2014

The Lords of the Manor, a luxury boutique hotel in the KZN Midlands, is on the market as a going concern.

The Lords of the Manor, which boasts 19 rooms on 25 acres in the lush heart of the beautiful Natal Midlands, is the perfect blend of modern comfort and classic elegance, together with Olde Worlde charm and luxury. Conveniently situated just outside Mooi River, the Manor is set in the heart of the lush Natal Midlands farmland with dams and streams in close proximity for the purist fly fisherman.

The History of ‘The Lord of the Manor, which is only 90 minutes from Durban and three and a half hours from Johannesburg, begins with the immigration of the Oates family from Liverpool to South Africa. The building first served as a girl’s school until 1914, when it was taken over as the family home of the eldest son. It has survived the ravages of war, the rigours of boarding school and the boisterous behaviour of a large family.

In 2007 it was fully restored by the current owners, who, together with a specialist stone mason and restorer of graded buildings in England and an exclusive interior designer, restored it to its original Colonial Victorian splendour.

The Lords of the Manor provides the ideal base for exploring the beautiful KZN Midlands, where attractions in the area include fly fishing, horse riding, hiking, game viewing, quad biking, golf, bowls, tennis, Bushman paintings and canopy tours.

The Lords of the Manor is the perfect place to arrange a wedding, corporate events, milestone birthdays, anniversary weekends or Christenings.

Its gourmet restaurant can comfortably seat a party of up to 110 guests. After enjoying exquisite cuisine with wine pairing, guests can retire to one of the 19 luxury suites for the night.

If a wedding in a luxurious country setting is what you’re after, then Lords of the Manor is the venue for you. Within the idyllic grounds lies a quaint chapel, perfect for that very special ceremony.

The conference facility situated in the Manor House offers the ideal environment for board meetings, seminars and conferences for up to 80 delegates. The hotel’s all-inclusive conference packages provide all the facilities needed for a successful conference, as well as a full range of catering requirements.

Elegance of a bygone era can be seen in the original hand-carved banister of the staircase leading down to the candle-lit dining room of the restaurant with its open fires and the warm wood tones of the intimate bar. Comfortable seating with soft background music sets an atmosphere in which guests can relax and relive the day’s activities.

Other facilities include a swimming pool, access to approved spas nearby and free wireless internet

According to Linda Erasmus, CEO of Fine & Country International Realty sub-Saharan Africa, it is a unique property to live on or continue the existing profitable hospitality business where only the owners need to change – nothing else. Surrounded by horse trails, a golf course and regular winter snowfall, the building’s use and appearance may have changed over time but its magical allure has remained intact to this day, which is why some still believe the legend that a bag of diamonds is hidden in its walls.
